in this time of fear, when prayer so often proves in vain

She covered her ears,
she screamed, drowning the voices in her head.
The voices telling her that it was her fault,
telling her that she did the wrong.
She cried, her heart bled,
she told herself a million times
"it isn't you, it isn't you"
but even she felt as if she were in denial.
He wanted a moment of silence, so she gave it to him.
He wanted space, so she allowed it to be.
But he, he just shut himself out of the world,
talking only when needed.
It wasn't her fault, really it wasn't.
She was so frustrated with everything,
she wanted to give up.
